CHAPTER
1 – THE STORE
SUMMARY
Miss
Hepzibah Pyncheon lived in the House of the Seven Gables, on a
Pyncheon street. It was a dark old house.
Hepzibah
didn’t want to work in the store of the House of the Seven Gables
because the people in the town didn’t like her. She was old, and
her face wasn’t beautiful. But she needed money, she needed food.
Her
first customer arrived, he was Mr. Holgrave. He lived in one of the
seven gables. Mr. Holgrave wanted some biscuits but Hepzibah didn’t
take any money from her only friend and she gave the biscuits.
Other
customer arrived, a schoolboy, but he didn’t buy anything.
The
schoolboy came back and bought the biscuits.
The
cousin’s Hepzibah, was in the store but she didn’t love her
cousin, he had a cold face.
A
new customer was in the store but he don’t buy anything.
Hepzibah
was sad because she had not gotten a lot of money and in the
afternoon, there was many customerbut they didn’t buy anything.
Suddenly,
other Hepzibah’s cousin came into the store. Phoebe wanted a job
and Hepzibah talked with Clifford Pyncheon. He was dead but in the
old house dead people can come back again.

CHAPTER
2 – PHOEBE AT HOME
SUMMARY
It’s
a new day and Phoebe got up and she looked the garden for the window.
She liked the white flowers. She went to the garden and took a
flowers, she put on his bedroom.
Later,
she went to Hepzibah’s room and they saw pictures. Hepzibah started
to cry and Phoebe took her to the kitchen and Hepzibah stoped to cry
and they went to the store and a customer came into store. Phoebe is
a very good worker.
At
night, Hepzibah closed her store and Phoebe went to see a pictures.
Hepzibah talked about their family.
Later,
Phoebe went to the garden and she thought who worked in the garden
and a person behind her talked. It was Holgrave and he saw to her
other pictures. He asked who was the person of the picture and Phoebe
know, but she mistaken because the picture had the same cold face
than she thought.
It’s
late and they went to sleep, Hepzibah kissed Phoebe and Phoebe she
realized that she loves.

CHAPTER
3 – PHOEBE’S FAMILY
SUMMARY
The
next day, Phoebe went down to the kitchen and she started to make
some coffee and hot food. Hepzibah was there and she started to cry.
Suddenly,
a man went into the kitchen, he was Hepzibah’s brother, Clifford
Pyncheon. Phoebe didn’t know who was he, but Hepzibah told him who
was he.
He
moved very slowly and didn’t talk. Clifford didn’t remember
Phoebe but she teached a flowers and he started to remember to
Phoebe.
Later,
the schoolboy, went to the store, but he went away with his bag.
Then, the door opened again, was a fat man in a expensive black coat.
He
wanted Hepzibah. Phoebe said it was her cousin and the man realized
it was Phoebe and started to kiss, but Phoebe sttoped and she went to
want Hepzibah. It was Judge Pyncheon.
Hepzibah
is angry, she didn’t love Judge Pyncheon. He wanted to stay in the
house of the seven gables, but Hepzibah didn’t want.
Judge
said that Clifford was bad man, but Phoebe didn’t think this. He’s
an important man.

CHAPTER
4 – HOUSE AND
GARDEN
SUMMARY
In
the morning, Clifford was sleep, Phoebe worked in the store and
Hepzibah stayed with Clifford. In the afternoon, Phoebe stayed with
Clifford and Hepzibah worked in the store.
Hepzibah,
Clifford and Phoebe were usually in the garden on Sunday afternoons
and Mr. Venner and Holgrave often came too. But Phoebe and Clifford
sometimes wasn’t to the garden and they went to a room, with a big
window.
One
day, Clifford hear music and he wanted to go with people and music
Holgrave
wanted that Phoebe was with he to his house of the country, but
Phoebe went to go to her mother’s house. They talked about the
Maule’s cursed.
Hepzibah
worked in the store, but the people was away. Judge went into the
store, and Hepzibah was angry. Judge said that Clifford was going to
die and Hepzibah went to the Clifford’s room. He wasn’t there,
Hepzibah was afraid, but he was in other room dancing. Judge was in
the chair where Colonel Pyncheon dead, and the curse returned and
Judge dead. All took their money. Everybody went to the train
quickly, without tickets.
Suddenly
Clifford talked with the man of the train. All were amazed because
Clifford spoke after a long time. (thirty years)
He
wanted to be a new man.

CHAPTER
5 – GOODBYE!
SUMMARY
In
the morning, the people came to the store, but it was closed. All
asked where was Hepzibah.
Suddenly,
Phoebe arrived from the country, and went to the store, but it was
closed. She asked to the people. She went to the front door, and it
was closed too, same the back door. But in a moment, the back door
opened. It’s dark there. She thought it was Hepzibah but it wasn’t
she.
Phoebe
went a big room. A hand, took Phoebe and talked. It was Holgrave. He
said that the curse was the bad hearts of a members of the Pyncheon
family.
Clifford
went to the prison because he murder of his uncle. But it wasn’t a
murder. It was the bad hearts of Colonel Pyncheon and Judge Pyncheon.
Holgrave
said that he love Phoebe, but Phoebe was afraid. Later, Phoebe said
that she love Holgrave too.
Then,
the police and doctors came to the house.
When
all finished, Hepzibah, Clifford and Mr. Venner returned. They went
with Phoebe to the room where the Colonel Pyncheon and Judge dead.
They
thought that the Pyncheon’s land, Judge’s money and the Judge’s
big country house was for their. But they said that the Pyncheon’s
land didn’t need and they went to the house of the country.
Then,
they closed the House of the Seven Gables and moved to the country.
Phoebe took some flowers with her. They were Alice’s flowers.

SUMMARY
Miss
Hepzibah, went to the House of the Seven Gables and she opened a
store because she needed money for eat.
One
day, her cousin, went with she. They talked about their family and
the curse, Maule, a wizard, cast a curse for the Colonel Pyncheon
family.
The
Hepzibah’s brother arrived to the House of the Seven Gables. He was
every day in the bedroom.
Suddenly,
the bad Judge Pyncheon went to the House of the Seven Gables because
he wanted Clifford and he wanted took to the police because Clifford
murder his uncle.
The
days passed and Judge, dead in the same place that Colonel Pyncheon.
They was same because they had a same bad heart and the same cold
face
Then,
the curse returned, and the people had to leave the House of the
Seven Gables, but Phoebe it wasn’t there, she was in his mother`s
house and when she returned to the House of the Seven Gables, there
was anybody.
Suddenly,
a door opened and a hand took Phoebe to a big room, it was Holgrave
and he talked about the curse. Later he said that he loved Phoebe,
and Phoebe loved Holgrave.
Other
day, Clifford and Hepzibah returned to the House of the Seven Gables
and they wanted the Judge’s money and his house of the country,
they didn’t need the House of the Seven Gables, and they closed it.
